From 17 May 2021, lockdown rules eased further and the following now applies:

  • People can meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors.
  • Six people or two households can meet indoors and overnight stays can take place.
  • Contact with close family and friends is a matter of personal judgement, but you should remain cautious around close contact, like hugging.
  • Pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants will be allowed to serve customers indoors.
  • Indoor entertainment such as cinemas and children’s play areas can open.
  • Organised adult sports and exercise classes can restart indoors.
  • Hotels, hostels and B&Bs can reopen.
  • Care home residents can have up to five named visitors, and more freedom for visits out of the home.

Hands, face, space and fresh air guidance still applies.

From 21 June 2021, there’s a 4-week continuation of the same restrictions until at least 19 July 2021.
